Liz's Appearance: Liz is a humanoid female. She has brown eyes, long black hair, she is 5'5" and she has a normal build for her height.
Liz's Personality: Liz is introverted and she doesn't like crowds. She is very much a loner and it takes her a while to open up to people.
Canon Info: Liz Sherman is a pyrokinetic whose powers have left her a troubled young woman with a strong desire to be normal because there are seldom few things that she can claim are normal about her. Even before Liz’s pyrokinetic abilities caused her extreme pain, she was by no means a normal child. Liz didn’t say a word until she was 4 years old, her parents had taken her to every specialist they could and none of them knew what was wrong. Suddenly she started speaking one night, she went from being unable to say a word to speaking with full articulation. Liz’s childhood was never easy, she moved around a lot with her parents (her father streamlined processes for big companies) and as a result of this it made it difficult for her to find a place where she was accepted. At school Liz experienced great difficulties in fitting in and the fact that she sometimes only stayed in a place for no more than a few weeks did not help her cause. To make things worse she also had to deal with the emergence of her pyrokinetic abilities.
The emergence of her abilities was gradual. They began appearing when she was 7 years old after scorch marks appeared on her bed sheets and teddy bears. Liz revealed that she had dreamed of fire the night the scorch marks first appeared. Throughout this period there were several isolated incidents but nothing major happened until she was 11 years old, the day that she was the sole survivor in an uncontrollable fire burst that killed countless of people, including her mother.
Liz’s life changed forever that day. After the incident she went from institution to institution, sometimes escaping to live on the streets for a while. She didn’t think she was ever going to find a stable place to live but then she met Professor Trevor Broom and after a half hour meeting when she was 17 years old, she agreed to join the BPRD (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense). Despite the numerous amounts of times that she has left Liz has always returned on the account that it the BPRD is the closest thing to a family that she has.
As of present Hellboy Movieverse canon Liz has resigned from the BPRD along with Hellboy, Abe and Johann Krauss.
Liz's Milieux Canon: Liz Sherman’s history was slightly changed to fit in with her going to Fandom High. Instead of experiencing that uncontrollable fire burst that changed her life forever at the age of 11, she experienced this when she was 14 - a few months into her freshman year at high school. After this fire burst Liz met Professor Trevor Broom the day after the incident, instead of meeting him at the age of 17, and he gave her an offer that she knew that she wouldn’t be able to refuse. Professor Broom’s offer to Liz was that if she went with him and joined the BPRD she would have a place to stay where she would be safe and she would realize that she wasn’t as alone as she thought. Of course, since Liz was only 14 she was too young to join them straight away so Professor Broom told Liz that he wanted her to finish her schooling.
The only problem that this had was that after the high publicity she had received over her uncontrolled burst that burnt a city block and killed hundreds of people, no school would ever accept Liz as a student. No school in her dimension that is. Professor Broom knew about a school that would accept Liz regardless about her past and so in January 2007 Liz started as a freshman at Fandom High.
Liz completed her education at Fandom High and after graduation she became a full time member of the BPRD (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense). Liz came to Milieux roughly 12 years after she graduated from Fandom High and the reason she initially left was because of an incident where she lost control of her pyrokinetic powers and killed six possessed BPRD agents in an abandoned warehouse. Even though she was not held responsible for their deaths (she was only publicly charged with arson) Liz still blamed herself and decided that it was time to leave the BPRD for good.
Eventually Liz was able to come to accept what had happened over the course of time that she was in Milieux, she was eventually able to make a trip home to the BPRD. The situation changed when her guardian Professor Broom was killed and she returned home, unsure of how long she was going to stay. It was during this couple of weeks that she seriously considered staying. This was largely helped because of the fact that she grew closer to Hellboy and it was only after that they had stopped Rasputin and Isla in Russia that they finally admitted what they both had known for quite some time. That they loved one another.
In the end Liz knew that she had to return to Milieux, despite her love for Hellboy, even though she had considered staying she knew that it wasn't going to be the same. She was surprised when Hellboy offered to go with her and once they got approval from the new head of the BPRD, Tom Manning, they both moved to Milieux to set up a new life together.
